FAQ
Q: The rumor around my ‘hood/town/sub-division/farm/trailer park/school/other is that you guys are shutting down, what is the real deal?
A: We are going to turn the park into a Co-Op where you buy a membership and become a member of the park. The park will become unsupervised so we will have to have some basic common sense rules about use. This being said as a member you will have a key to the place and can skate anytime you want to.
Q: Whoa, I can get a key to the park? And skate anytime I get the itch?
A: Yup and yup.
Q: What is the catch?
A: No catch. You just need to pay your monthly membership dues and abide by the rules of the Co-Op. I promise that all the rules are very easy to follow and will not be any more restrictive then what they are now. We are basically asking you to think of this as your park (which it is) and treat it with respect.
Q: Can I bring friends to the park?
A: Yes with limitations. Currently the limitations are that you can bring up to 2 friends at a time. Your friends will need to sign a waiver, pay $5, and sign in to the “guest book.” They may come up to 3 times before they themselves will be required to join the Co-Op. We feel this is fair. They can get a flavor of what it is all about and then start paying their own way rather then sponging off of you.
Q:How will you know if my friends pay or not or how many times they have been there?
A: We will keep track on the guest book and when they pay they will be required to put the money in an envelope, write their name on it, and put it in the lock box. There will be no telling when the owners or others will be swinging by to check on the status of the park and who is there. This is based on the honor system in some part and then on self-policing in others
Q: Let’s say I say “I’m going to do what I want.”
A: You will not be allowed to participate in the club if you show a blatant disregard for the rules. We will ask you to retire your key and you will be placed at the end of the waiting list if you want to remain a member. We are trying to build something that benefits all of our members and we will not allow a few people to ruin it for others. If you follow the rules you will be fine.
Q:Whoa, “waiting list,” does that mean space is limited?
A: Yes, we want to make the park something of a privilege. There will be a limited amount of people (50-75) allowed to join the park. We do not want our members to feel that it is too crowded all of the time.
Q: What if I like to skate with one of my friends but he is not a member and he checks out the park and likes it and wants to join but there are 20 dudes in front of him on the waiting list?
A: It is possible we might make exceptions. Feel free to ask but make sure it is a reasonable request. We want members who are in this for the long haul and want a place to skate inside and at all hours.
Q: So wait, can I be a member for a month or so? How does that work?
A: No. We will require a minimum commitment of 6 months. The preferred (and less expensive) way, will be to sign up for a year. Please contact us for pricing.
Q: So how soon do I need to sign up for this?
A: The sooner the better. We are taking indications of interest with deposits right now. If for some reason it falls through then the deposits will be refunded to you in full. Currently ~25% of the spaces have been filled. That means there is still ~75% of the memberships available.
Q: How much is the deposit and what is it for?
A: The deposit we are requesting is $80. This will allow us to know you are serious about becoming a member and willing to start the process with us. This deposit will be applied towards membership dues when everything is finalized.
Q: How much is it going to cost?
A: The short answer is going to be around $40/month. It will be broken up with different amounts for different situations. Check out the Rules & Regulations for more info.
Q: I am under 18 but really want to join up with this thing, how will that work?
A: Your parents will need to sign up for you. They will be the ones responsible for paying the dues. We are going to request if you are under 18 you have supervision of some one who is 18+ while at the park. Once you are 18 you may sign yourself up.
Q: Are you planning on changing stuff around? Adding new ramps, street section, etc.?
A: Yes, We are planning on making the park different then it currently is. We definitely want to put in a more conventional street section with all the ledges and rails and boxes you would want. We want to take input from our fellow members. We will probably leave it as is for the time being and get some ideas drawn out and then put them to vote.
Q: So let me get this all straight- you are offering me a membership in an indoor skate park, I can come and go as I please at all hours and all I have to do is become a member of the co-op?
A: That about sums it up. What we would recommend is to contact us directly if you have questions or concerns.
